SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Serengeti National Park is Tanzania's most famous and oldest national park with a world heritage site and the seventh worldwide wonder status. It’s recognized for its annual wildlife migration a thunderous clatter of the hooves of more than a million wildebeest and several hundred thousand zebras.

ZANZIBAR ISLAND

Zanzibar Island is a semi-autonomous archipelago off the coast of Tanzania. It consists of the main Zanzibar Island, as well as a cluster of smaller islands sprawling with white sandy stretches. The Stone Town of Zanzibar’s original urban fabric and traditional Swahili trading culture has earned it recognition as a world heritage site. Its storied history lives on through traditional architecture like Sultan’s Palace, mosques, and cathedrals within the main city, lined by breathtaking beaches.

LAKE MANYARA

The flamingo-flecked Lake Manyara National Park sits in both the Arusha and Manyara regions of Tanzania. Some 300 species of migratory birds flock to these waters during the wet season and, when the weather dries up, the lake turns into alkaline mudflats full of grazing giraffes, elephants and hippos.

MOUNT KILIMANJARO

Mount Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in the entire continent of Africa and, at 19,336 feet, it’s the highest climbable peak in the whole world. A dormant volcano, Mount Kilimanjaro boasts three volcanic cones Kibo, Mawenzi and Shira and a diverse array of flora and fauna. The mountain is a metamorphosis of sweeping agricultural plains, biodiverse rainforests, fresh meadows and dry deserts, swathed in snow at its peak.

NGORONGORO CRATER

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978, the Ngorongoro Crater in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera. It’s the awe-inspiring aftermath of an imploded volcano an eruption some two to three million years ago. Today, the crater is home to the highest density of large game in Africa, where the big five, including the rare black rhino, can be spotted.

MEET THE PEOPLE

Tanzania is home to over 120 resident tribes, all of whom are among the most welcoming and approachable people on the planet. We’ll leave our 4x4s behind to meander through the scenic local villages and get to know these diverse cultures, where our local guides were born and raised. Our guides will proudly share stories of their carefully cultivated “shambas” with coffee, fruits, vegetables and dairy farming while the famous Maasai shares age-old pastoralist heritage. You’ll discover how to grow, pick, dry, roast, pound and brew fresh, aromatic coffee by participating in the process, too. Meanwhile, in the pastoral areas of the North and Lake Zone, we’ll follow the drumbeats down the Sukuma, Iraqw, Barbaiq and Maasai tracks to explore the longstanding traditions of Southern Tanzania’s Ndali and Matengo dancers. We’ll taste the local cuisine and sample some of the finest local wines and beers. You, too, will learn how to cook and make authentic handcrafts with locals.
